Slow Stitching

I enjoyed Kathy's post this past Sunday and was inspired to get out some of my own Slow Stitching. I've been hand sewing these blocks for a while.  It's easy work, but does require that you sit down and relax and stitch.  Sometimes I forget how nice simple sewing is.  Thanks for reminding me Kathy!

After stitching a while, I played with the setting.  My daughter got excited and thinks this should be a quilt for a baby girl.  Which led to the question--"Who is expecting a baby girl?"  She didn't know, but says there's always someone at church having a baby.  Good point.

I had kind of thought this might grow larger than a baby quilt.  Time will tell.  I'll keep stitching these as the spirit moves me.  When I grow tired, I'll likely call it big enough!  I sew a lot without a definite plan in mind.

Hope you are enjoying the sweet rhythm of this day.

many blessings,

Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed,
for His compassions never fail.
They are new every morning;

great is Your faithfulness.

  1. Beautiful quilt! I am handstitching on a hexie one. I have not worked on it for a while but should dig it out.

  2. That's a lovely project, Pam. I too, love to do hand stitched projects but I really get tired of friends commenting that they would never do such projects as it 'takes too much time'...but it's wonderful to stitch and think/daydream etc...

  3. Nice hand sewing. I've been making myself quilt for an hour a day. I'm hand quilting a bedspread sized quilt for our bed and it isn't hard-----just lots to do. I'm thinking I might hand quilt the center portion, and stitch in the ditch on the machine for the overhanging parts. I'm not submitting it for Quilter Approval, so it won't matter much.

  4. I am working on my first hexie project and it is fun dreaming about what I want to do with them while I make them. Love your texas stars, so cute! They would make a great baby quilt, or a twin size for some little girl. I say keep going as long as you are enjoying the journey.

  5. Those are just darling! Make them as long as you are enjoying it. The quilt will let you know when it is done. I like the grey background - works well with the pink =).
